Do you mean a Pentium 2 350 MHz, or a Pentium 3 450 MHz? Anyway, that really isn't enough information to give a definite answer, but there's an 85% chance that it needs PC133 SDRAM.

To find out what memory you need and what you can install in your computer go to Crucial and press "scan my system"

Save your money and save for a new computer. You can buy a much better computer for what the RAM will cost.

Looking at ebay completed listings (sold prices)

Used HP Pavilion a640n Desktop $75 + free shipping
Processor Type: 2 GHz AMD Athlon 64 (AMD 3400+)
Memory (RAM): 512 MB
Hard Drive Capacity: 144 GB
Operating System: Windows XP
Primary Drive: CD-RW/DVD Combo
Bundled Items: WiFi Card & Router

I have a 600Mhz machine I no longer use because it was too slow for XP; I can only imagine what a 300Mhz machine must be like.

You processor is most likely Slot 1 and you may have SDRAM modules in there. Better check w/ CPUZ. Download and install from here.

Look at the memory and SPD tabs.
