mine is Kareem. All time highest scorer even over Michael and Wilt, six championships, three MVP awards, twenty year career, most original player (the skyhook) plus he was in two of the greatest movies ever made: Airplane and Game of Death!
Who's your favorite player, old or new whichever you prefer?

My favorite player of all time is Legend. Larry Bird was the ultimate competitor who played like an MVP on both ends of the court. His defense was bulletproof. His offense is legendary. His passing was impeccable. No flash. No drama. Just plain old hard work and dedication.

Between his Celtics, and the original MJ's (Magic Johnson) Lakers, they rejuvenated the NBA and paved the way for Michael Jordan to become more than just the best player, but the richest.

The Celtics and Lakers could field a team of all-stars at any given point in a game. Bird, DJ, McHale, Ainge, Parrish vs. Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Scott, A.C. Green. On the east coast, Larry Legend was the field general. On the west it was Magic. Bird is my choice because I'm an east coast boy, but I got nothing but respect for those Lakers. The two teams got people back into the NBA, setting the stage for Jordan to steal the show.

In the History of the game, I can think of 6 players who are just beyond greatness.

Top 3:
His Airness
Larry Legend
Magic Johnson

(you don't hear nicknames like that anymore)

Next 3:
Oscar Robertson
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
The Stilt

Yeah, Bird is my favorite of all time, even though Jordan was the greatest. But any of these guys could be a favorite. They had class and worked hard. Shaq will be on the list some day. If KG can win a ring, he will too. It's too early to judge LeBron and Kobe and AI and the rest.

Thank you.

My favorite basketball player of all time is Magic Johnson. i think him and Larry Bird really took basketball to a whole new level. i remember crying the day that he had to retire from the Lakers with the HIV virus. And then being wowed when he made Latree Spreewell's head spin in his first game back as a Laker. He is the reason that i developed a mini-sky(hook) which he made in a memorable game 6 vs the Celtics back in 1985.

Haha -- good call on Airplane and Game of Death- can't think of another basketball player who made a better movie. (Definetly not: Space Jam or Shazaam (terrible!)

i also really like Pistol Pete Maravich and just his life story- unfortunately i have only seen tapes of him- and so never really knew him as a player- but he has a great life story.

Larry Bird is my favorite. He played until he retired. And he didn't do things for media attention like Michael Jordan.Remember Jordan would keep ESPN reporting for 6 months whether or not he would come out of retirement.I think he quit about 3 times. He was the man but he required a lot of attention.

sought after: Peyton Manning - super chief and between the main suitable quarterbacks of all time. Can quite strengthen right into a coach or offensive coordinator interior the NFL if he desires to. Least sought after: Tom Brady - overvalued quarterback who seems extra beneficial than he's as a results of the fact he consistently has super protection and receivers to throw to. to no longer point out all of his super Bowls are because of fact his protection replaced into incredible, yet he nevertheless won MVP two times. If him and Manning switched places, Manning could have a minimum of three super bowl wins.

My favorite player is MJ, though i don't think he's the greatest of all time and he's kind of an asshole, but I really enjoy watching the sixers from the early eighties with Bobby jones, Maurice Cheeks, Dr. J., and Moses Malone. I used to watch reruns of old ABA games and Bobby Jones was awesome.
