I always plan all the things in my life including my career. At the same time I always keep in mind that my life or career in not only depend on me; it is depend on others too. So I always make 3 plans; 1st plan is my original or basic plan; 2nd plan is for if my plan is being affected by some others and 3rd plan is for worst situation or natural calamities.

Actually, there is no any certain rule that your career will be successful only if you plan it and stick with it. Career is a long time achievement so in that way many obstacles may come; and always you have to change your plan according to that.

According to me planning is required for ones career but chance or opportunity along with other factors are also making their impact on career.

So plan your career but also look for opportunities!

I decided in 6th grade what I wanted to do and I remember telling my friends that I wanted to be a cop. I pretty much trained for it in college and then did it for 21 years.
I miss it sometimes, but it is nice to be able to spend most of the summer with my daughters and not have to worry about work. Retirement isn't bad other than the pay drop.

I helped my husband develop 3 different businesses. One day I finally realized, this is what HE wants to do, not me. I went to a local community college and took a years course on becoming a floral designer. My children were in there late teens, the age of most of my classmates. I became a very good floral designer, and it was just for me!

I didn't plan my career, and it's not even in my field.

Planned it... Sort of.

I wanted to learn it, but once I learned it, didn't know what to do with it.
