Hi there, I've heard there is a new system applied on the sides of some roads which
controlls the lighteninig. At nights when there is no car entering into the road, this system
turns off the lights and whenever a car enters into the road from one of the slip roads,it
turns on the lights and keep them turned on for a certain time for example 2 or 3 minutes.
By this way it saves the energy.

Can you help me with finding more information about this system?
Best regards

Never heard of it but all lamp posts in the uk r fitted with photocells which detect light and turn on if there is none, so if u fit an infared sensor to one of these (which detects movement via heat) and a timer set on 2-3 minutes u would then have what u r talking about

Haven't heard this for roads, but I have seen it in industrial settings. At Ford, we have recently installed a lighting system that will turn out the lights if there is no one in the area, it is one of their new cost reduction ideas.

I see no reason that this same thought couldn't be applied ot the road system.

I never heard of such a thing, but it does sound logical. You may try a search on 'lighting' and then refine your search from there. As in 'Highway lighting' or 'Illumination'
