utah can actually run with the warriors a litttle. between them and houston, the jazz can give the warriors a little bit of trouble. the warriors beat both with the established team they are playing now in the last month of the season, so yes they can do it again. houston matches up well with the warriors because if the warriors go small they will make yao a non factor in the games just like they did with dirk. yao is too slow to keep up with the run and gun offense and he will have a hard time defending whoever is the center in the small ball lineup because he'll have to guard outside of his comfort zone... in the perimeter. so yeah... the warriors definitley have a chance to beat either one... more so with houston though. GO WARRIORS!!!! =D

I think the Warriors defintely have a chance against both teams. In the regular season they were: 2-1 vs Houston and 2-2 vs Utah.
Either team will be coming off a tiring 7 game series- and so the Warriors will definetly have momentum and extra days of rest- which is crucial in making a long playoff run.
I think vs Houston they will have trouble with Yao, but i also think that Golden State can penetrate and exploit the lack of depth that Houston has.
Against Utah i think Golden State is much too quick for them, and other than Boozer and Darren Williams most of the Jazz are too inconsistent.
All this being said- i don't think it'll really matter because if they make it past the next round- they'll lose to either the Spurs or Suns.
I think a key to the Warriors in the next round- it how Al Harrington performs. He had a horrible series vs the Mavs and i think they'll need some low post scoring to score inside/out and moreover, they need another 20 point scoring threat. Al will be able to take the big men of either Houston or Utah outside (wear them out a little bit) and also with ball movement (esp. as a three point threat) be able to open gaps for mid-range jumpers and some dump off dunks which will especially be huge momentum builders especially at home in Oracle Arena.

I think the Warriors would have a better chance to win against Houston, they would run Yao to the ground. Yao can't even keep up with Utah's half court game. Also the reason Golden St. did so good against Dallas is because they frustrated Dirk with the double teams, Yao panics when he gets doubled teams and always turns it over. So if Golden St. ends up playing Houston, Yao will be a no factor. If Utah wins though, I think it will be a tough matchup for Golden St due to Utah's physical style of play.

A series with Houston can go either way depending on how Yao will perform... Golden State can use their speed for easy baskets... The big man can't athc up with them... But, If Van Gundy can utilize his team's size and most especially Yao's height... Yao can dominate and Houston can slow down the tempo of the game...
Utah on the other hand would be easier to beat since Sloan would probably go with a smaller lineup to match up with GSW... Boozer can be rendered useless unless he could establish a position in the post but without that, Okur's 3-point shooting isn't enough for the Jazz's cause...
But technically, GSW has a chance since Utah, Houston and Dallas (losers) are of the same kind of basketball team... a more traditional team which play halfcourt plays instead of playing chaotically efficient...
Go GSW!!!

maybe
against houston, Yao will have to run abck and forth to defend the warriors' uptempo game.
against utah, Okur, Boozer, and Kirilenko need to be able to clog the lanes and make sure the 3 is not wide open.
Houston is a half-court team, so an uptempo game will be a disadvantage to them, same with the jazz
against houston, Houston in 7
against Utah, Golden State in 7

Depends on their health. I think they could beat either team if they were healthy. The warriors have trouble with teams with really good defense though and Houston is one of the best in the league. Then again they would run circles around Yao. Who knows?

I dont think they do if they play the rockets.
The rockets defense is too good.. they can shut the warriors down.
And I don't think they can stop the inside outside of yao and tracy.
They have nobody to stop Yao..
that causes the defense to collapse to stop him, leaving great 3 point shooters of battier, head and mcgrady open, or given to mcgrady to do what he wants with it.
And Yao would draw a lot of fouls and have the warriors in foul trouble, while also putting up lots of points in free throws, since yao is good at ft's.
The only reason they beat the mavs is because they matched up well against them. You will find that certian teams can beat other teams that they aren't suppossed to, yet lose to teams that they should beat. It all has to do with matchups..

it depends on who controls the game... warriors are too fast for either team, yet utah and houston have a low post scorer in boozer and yao respectively. but if they defend either of them like they did dirk, they certainly will have a chance. they doubled dirk almost everytime and makes him pass to another team mate, houston and utah's role players will have to knock down shots, and boozer and yao will have to handle the ball and pass alot better. if u watched how gs plays, usually their primary option is isolation of bd, driving through the hole, if double teamed, kicking out to an open teammate. their defense 2-3 zone forces their opponent to shoot 3's which results in longer rebounds (which is smart) due to their small lineup and use their speed instead...

If the Warriors stay as hot as they have been for the last two months, they can beat anybody. They have the best record vs. the toughest teams the last 2 months.
