Im unemployed, living at home but want to move out. i found a rental for a one bedroom bungalow with separate lounge, kitchen area, dinning area, bathroom with laundry, gas stove. Price inc: gas, electricity , water $135 per week plus bond $585.

I get $235 a week inc rent assistance, till i find work.

What do you think, i would have an extreemly tight budget, but im i dont spend money anyway ,and im desparate to have my own space. Thanks.

As a landlord, I would not rent to you as your income is not enough to cover rent and all expenses. Most landlords, including me, require the applicant's income to be at least twice the amount of rent. We know when money is tight, or unexpected expenses happen (i.e. the car breaks down) the last thing to be paid is rent, and with your income, it's a likely bet it would happen more often than not. Eventually, you'll fall behind in rent and would have to be evicted.
I don't know how old you are, but you sound young. If that's the case, it's really going to be hard for you the way things are now. Your best bet to be a desirable tenant is to get a job and have sufficient income.
You don't want to move out now and screw up your first apartment. Remember, you'll want to move out with a good reference.
Don't rush it. I know you want your independence, but if you don't make it, you'll be back at home with a bad reference following you to your next apartment.

If you're desperate to have your own space, transfer your desperation so it extends to finding a job. Be desperate about finding... and keeping.... a job - that's the first step to independence. Then get an apartment.. It will feel better to be in your own place, that you work for, rather than one that you got through welfare.

it is unlikely that your application will be accepted anyway, if you are unemployment benefits.

You need a job, no matter how small it is, so that you look trustworthy and a good bet when you a apply for properties.

No landlord wants unemployed bums in their investment property ;)

Do it and get a job to make more money. We all need to spread our wings.
