If it is hurting this much, then you should go back to the ER, or call your doc and go in for a check up at least. When you have a wreck, there are things in motion, (kinetics) and when something abruptly stops motion, it is going to hurt. When you are in a wreck things happen to your body that aren't normal. You will have bruising, lots of it, soreness, so forth. More than likey this is the problem, and seatbelts can cause a lot of soreness after a wreck. Sore muscles, things of that nature. I've seen seatbelt bruising where it looks like they still have the seat belt on. Pain always worsens after a few days something happens. But as I mentioned, if you are in this much pain, then by all means go get checked out again. Good luck.

I was in car accident a few years ago and remember that it hurt like a b****.
Like you I was a passenger and had a seat belt on though we T-boned another car going 60 I can tell you it hurts and it will hurt for a week or two.
but you know you body, if you body is telling you that something is wrong then you have the responsibility to listen a go see your doctor.
Your luck, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. My friend (driver) lost the use of her legs.

I had a very bad car accident 3 years ago. I was hit by a truck and drug into another truck. Suffered many injuries. But it wasn't for 2 weeks later that they found other things wrong with me because I had no signs the night of the accident. I would go to your regular Dr. and get checked again and see what he says.

You should be going in to see your doctor for a followup by now. Things do show up even weeks and months after accidents and many times they are serious. If you don't have something for the pain, ask the doctor for it. You shouldn't have to put up with the pain. I hope that you're feeling better soon.

Point blank, you need to go back to the hospital and have that checked out.
Sometimes pain takes a few days to kick in, and you likely have internal bruising. But if both sides of your chest hurt, you need to have that re-investigated.

Bruised ribs, they won't show up on an x-ray. Give it a few days and you should see a difference

Did you follow up with your own doctor???
It is not likely they missed something on the x ray but it is possible.
At the ER did they tell you to follow up with your doctor? It might be a good idea.

You probably have multiple ribs cracked and only time will heal them and in the meanwhile there is lots of pain.

yeah i think it's just bruising. go back if it doesn't go away. i got run over by a snowboarder (not as bad as a car crash, i know) but my back hurt like you described. it went away after about two days. yours will probably hurt longer.
