my school has and end of the year school dance and my dad had to get religon into it. i myself thought religon needed to stay out of that kinda stuff (nothing big happens if u wana get into relationships). my dad kept on bringing up little flash backs on how he was a kid and tried to stay away from dances becasue he knew it would involvvve girls, and when girls came into the story then it would mess up with school work. i didn't really accept that 'casue that was back in the old days and me and him are 2 diffrent people and not every thing will be the same! he told me that i should ask my pastor or my youth leader about this. help me out with this stupid desison please!!!!!!!!!!

First off, I think you should talk to your dad and just tell him that there will be chaperones and that nothing sexual between you and a girl will be going on. As far as the dances I've been to even in high school, it's just friends hanging out and not much else.
Second of all, try asking him that if you speak to the youth leader about it before the dance if it'd be alright to go. Maybe he just needs some reassurance that you are listening to him and understand his views. If a parent can see that you are listening to them, they're usually more willing to listen to you. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a shot. Just going against his advice or will might just piss him off, but if he sees that you're trying maybe he'll understand that you're responsible enough to handle something like this.

Religion and girls go together very well. After all, the whole point of religion is to help you understand how to act in this world, and the opposite sex is an important part of it. Maybe what your dad is trying to tell you, is that in spite of what you think, the thoughts, pressures, interests and desires you have are exactly the same ones that guys have been having for thousands of years. Certainly the same as he had as a kid. Everything won't be the same, but maybe you might avoid the screwups that most of us made at your age, when we wanted to go to the dance. and perhaps.... if he sees you're thinking about this in a serious and thoughtful way, and you're considering his heartfelt advice seriously, he'll see you as more than just a kid, and give you a little more leeway. .

Ur dad is just trying to steer u in a certain direction,
i.e. male-female-teens-hormones-
temptation-pregnancy.
I told my kids to not try weed til they were out of High School
they didn't listen. 'Later', my oldest dghtr., told me I was right that she should've waited, it interupted her education, she's stopped now, a long time ago actually, & in college.

Or better yet,here.............

10 Steps to Consequences...
Finally 1 kiss
after 2 hours.
At 3 minutes past the hour,
we're into 4 play.
5 minutes later,
I'm taking off her size 6 panties.
It took me 7 days
to schedule this 8 o'clock date.
And now 9 months later,
I wish I had taken just 10 minutes to talk about
the consequences.

Make A Decision

Go to the dance, stay focused.

what was your question? :P its amusing how these questions always end up in the gay forum...

on that note. tell him if you don't spend enough time with girls you might *turn* gay and he might bring you there himself :P you know how much the hyper religious folks seem to fear tha kids turnin gay onim!

that's bad advice actually heh... that might not quite work as intended~ but i think you should go if you want. if you have a set of morals you live by then going to 1 dance isn't going to change your fundamental morals.

This is the most awkward and sexually confusing time of your life. Embrace it and experience it without the pastor, or you'll just prolong this awkward phase. At the same time, keep your faith in mind. Respect yourself and..well, you've heard all this before.

Your dad is a fundie, sorry lil dude. Ride it out. All those fundamentalist Christians just want to make everyone's world as miserable as their own.
