I would think that they would be a great idea for those of us that are having repeats. I would like the focus to be on the mother before surgery and what the father can do to relax her. What the couple might ask the Dr to do while she is having the baby...Music playing...And then focus on teaching dad on what to do afterwards for mom and baby. And teaching mom what she can and cannot do. I sure could have used that as my Lamaze classes did nothing for us after my c section and neither did my hubby. He wants to make it different this time and I know he will.

But wouldn't it be cool if there were classes? Focus more on comfort in pregnancy and aftercare... I wish I had the means to start it...

The class would not be for what to do during it would focus on teaching couples what they can do for each other to not make it seem like a let down.

planned c sections are more frequest then you think. I would have the class focus more on massage and after care.

I think its a great idea but you would have to volunteer and devote time to sparking this up.
I had a c-section, and PHEW glad it's over. It is a bit scary at first but easier than natural (been there to!)
But you have a wonderful idea.

I am currently 26 days away from having my 3rd c-section. Having a repeat is much, much less stressful than having the first. On my second one, we had to arrive at the hospital on hour early and wait for the doctors. We just sat in our room and talked and joked like it was any other day. The dr's came in asked if we were ready, my husband got prepped, and away we went. There really isn't much you can do while you're having the baby since half of your body is numb. My husband sat there and held my hand and brushed my hair off my face. I wouldn't think they would allow music in the operating room just so they can concentrate on their jobs and making sure the baby comes into the world as safely as possible. The less distractions the better.
On my release day from the hospital (both times) a dr and nurse talked to me and explained what I could and couldn't do(there are a lot of no-no's) how to take care of the incision, what to look for or be concerned about.
All around I would say that I got great care for both of my previous c-sections. That being said I still wish that this one could be vaginal just because it's so much easier on the body.
Good luck!!!

That's a good idea. People having C-sections could still go to regular birthing classes and do the exercises though. They are very healthy during pregnancy.

Because c-sections aren't generally in the plan until they're needed. The majority of women plan a vaginal delivery and a c-section class would have a low turn out.

well i am assuming they dont have classes for them because you dont plan a c section (usually) and if you are having a repeat you usually know what to expect. however my birthing classes did have a section on c sections where they went over pain managment, going home, delivery and relaxtion and husband compfort. but you might google it and find one out there, maybe an online version

A Cesarean section is a medical procedure, you don't need a class for it, the doctor is the one who does the surgery.

Check with your doctor, if enough people are interested they may start one.
