I'm in a karate class where you are not supposed to yawn, so if i catch myself about to yawn I breath very deeply and that usually helps.

PS - it has happened to me, honestly. To many caffeine pills. It's a little scary and very frustrating. Once the caffeine wore off I could yawn again - and I still wasn't convinced, so I tried it again. Same result. Ah, the teenage years.

I can actually answer that question it's uncomfortable and I seem to gasp for air. It tends to happen when I'm overtired.
