Not exactly. He is the lead singer of the group "U2", he stands up against issues, like hungry and staving children in africa, who have aides, that nobody else is doing anything about, He is funded an organization to raise awareness about unpayable debts, AIDS, foreign develpment assistance and unfair trade rules which keep Africa poor. He is also joining other celebrates in raising money to buy medicine for children with aids. So I would say he's loved by many for this.
Why would you want to hate a person when you don't know anything about them any way? for what reason?
I don't know if you're the only one, but I'll just bet you're the only one who hates the man for no reason. Atleast find out who a person is first and what they're all about before you write them off.

I don't hate him, but he does seem a little too self-important for me. I do think he cares about the poor, but sometimes he goes a little too far. You may not like him, but hating someone because you don't like them, or their music, or what they have to say, is a bit close-minded.
As for hating his shades or music, come on. At least he still sings and has talent, unlike most of the artists today, who rely on their producers and ripping off and sampling other peoples' music. In this American Idol world where talent doesn't mean much, he still has it. I think his shades are part of his appearance, and certainly better than some of the hip-hop artists with their tattoos and pants dragging on the ground.

i can't understand why you should hate someone just because you "don't know anything about him"...sounds like just plain ignorant prejudice... maybe you are too young, but for most people my age, bono and u2 have produced and are still producing great music (heckuvalot better than the garbage produced by pop, hiphop and so-called rockers of today)...try the classic album "joshua tree" or the newer album "how to dismantle an atomic bomb" and learn why they are considered a great band...

I can understand you not liking his music or what he says - that's your individual prerogative, but at least the man does stand for something, and what he stands for is worthwhile. He is a bit over saturated, I agree - but at least he uses his celbrity for a good casue.
Besides U2 make some damn good music!

he helps people. God bless him.
Its sad that people get hated on for doing good. Which by the way, I'm sure he's done more for people in need than you ever would. Youre a sad person.
You asked for people's opinion. Musically he can sing live, better than anyone i've ever heard.

I liked him in the 80s, before he turned politically correct.

I don't hate anyone. But why can't singers just sing, dancers just dance and actors just act?
I don't want to know their politics or what cause they are crusading for.
Normal people just work and don't stand on soapboxes all day.
