basically i need to reduce the answer, also, if it is possible, could the person who answers give a brief explanation

This problem could be re-written as (1/4)x + 1x = ...

Essentially, you are just adding 1/4 and 1, which is 5/4 or 1.25.

x/4 + x = 5x/4

is that x over 4 or x divided by 4

if x over 4 the answer is x/4+x=


lets say 2/4+2= 2/4+2/1=4/4 which equal 1

(5/4)x is the answer.
Since x/4 is really (1/4)x, and x is really 1x or (4/4)x,
You have (1/4)x + (4/4)x = (5/4)x
