I had a old Compaque 98 and all the cable co. said I it was too old and all the cards etc would not help, It was too old to up date and would be slow any way. I got a new comp. , and well worth it. Sometimes, it is not worth all the stuff u have to go thur and still slow.. Buy a new one. good luck.

You need two parts 1) you need an ethernet card for your Pc unless you have one installed ( looks like a phone jack but bigger) 2) You also need a Cable Modem usually supplied by your Cable Service Provider. Here is a link that explains what each is......http://computer.howstuffworks.com/pc1.htm

Hope it helps

you can use an Ethernet card, plug it in, install drivers and connect, you may have to install something from you service provider to get it to work right.

You'll need an ethernet card if it doesn't already have one.
