We're considering Landon for our son-to-be's name, and my husband suggested 'Lyn' (my middle name) as his middle name. I don't like the spelling 'Lynn', and if that's the only way we could spell it for a male, I'd rather pass. Can we spell it 'Lyn'? Is that only the feminine spelling? Any other suggestions? His sister's name is Morgan.... thanks.

Really it's the middle name, it doesn't matter all that much. He probably will not like it when he's older. I would go with Linn, Lynne, or Len before Lyn, but I don't see how any is better or worse than the other. The only truly feminine spelling of the name would be Lynne, so I would avoid that one. Good luck!

My maiden middle name was spelt "Lyn". I've heard Lin used as a male spelling, but I personally don't care for it as a boy name, a bit too feminine. Maybe use your hubby's middle name or the grandfather's name or something like that. Landon is a cute name.

I have a cousin named Brandon Lyn and I think its really a good name. I see nothing wrong with it. The spelling is fine.

Lyn is more for a boy than Lynn. Lin looks really cool too. Taking the "y" out looks way more masculine than with a "y".

My father's name is Lynton and he generally goes by the name of Lyn. As a child, he hated it (he got into many fights because of it ("Linny")).

It's less of a concern for a middle name though. My mother-in-law has the middle name Davie (a family name) and that has never been a problem.

Lyn is fine. Whenever I see a guy named Lyn, I just assume it's a family name or his real name is Lynwood or Lyndon.

I think it's a great middle name ... very unique and sounds good with Landon (also a great choice). The "Lyn" spelling, would be my choice. Good luck with your baby-to-be :)
