Honestly, I wouldn't call Quinn a gamble. People criticize his accuracy but fail to take into account how many of those passes needed to be thrown away. Their also was a lack of talent (and that's nicely put) surrounding him at Notre Dame. He proved he was durable despite taking a beating with that porous O Line. To me, he doesn't have arrogance, but that confidence in himself and in his teammates that he needs. I can't envision Quinn as a bust because he's proven his durability, has been taught by the best (highly football intelligent), hard working and too competitive (he won't just simply give up). He also has all the physical tools to be a highly productive quarterback, not just someone getting the most of their athletic ability (or lack there of it). He's a safer pick and can probably start earlier in his career while there might be a learning curve for Russell.
Jamarcus is the gamble. Like Quinn, he's got all the physical tools (size, arm strength, mobility) and with the exception of mobility, has better size and arm strength. I haven't heard anything flattering about his dedication to the game or his work ethic, but he is a good leader and seems to show poise in the pocket and in pressure situations. He flashes excellent accuracy although he needs to learn to be more consistent. His mobility can be overrated but he has the size and agility to consistently avoid the rush. Obviously he needs to keep learning about the mental aspect of the game but he's been making strides in college so he should continue in the pros.
Also, take into consideration the situations they landed in. Both Cleveland and Oakland were once proud organizations that have faced harsh times in recent years. Both teams have good defenses to back up the offenses but lack a consisent running game. In the end, I will give the edge to Quinn. I'm not doubting that Kiffin can turn Oakland around, but Crennel has more experience on coaching (especially from his days under Belichick) and he knows more about how to run a team. That plus the fact that Cleveland recently signed Eric Steinbach and drafted Thomas who will protect Quinn.
In the end, Quinn will probably be a very good pro although Jamarcus has the potential to be "special". All the factors considered, I think Quinn will be the better pro although Russell can be a lot better if he reaches the height of his potential which is a big IF.

Quinn is the better gamble, everyone is saying how Russell can throw 60 yards from his knees. sowhat he's not going to use that during the game. Plus Quinn has already played under an NFL offense under Charlie Weis. Also people are making a big deal about the sugar bowl. I guarantee if you could play the Browns vs. the Raiders including all draft picks the Browns would wipe the floor. Plus, Jamarcus Russel doesn't have anthing to prove Quinn has to prove that he's better than a 22nd pick

Well, Cleveland's offense got better in the off-season at running back (Jamal Lewis is much better than Reuben Droughns), offensive line (see Joe Thomas, Eric Steinbach, Seth McKinney), and even receiver (Tim Carter in the 3-wide adds speed, Jurevicius should now be healthy, and Braylon Edwards moves into the ever-crucial 3rd year).
Meanwhile, the Raiders offense got better at fullback (Justin Griffith), the offensive line got a little help (Cooper Carlisle, Jeremy Newberry), the receiving game got a couple of possible contributors (Zach Miller, Mike Williams), and a 3rd-down running back (Dominic Rhodes). But, most of all they lost Moss (probably a good long-term move for the franchise, but Russell has to be disappointed).
All things considered, and assuming they both win the starting gig, Quinn will have more help in Cleveland so I've gotta say he's the better gamble. Despite Russell obviously possessing better physical ability, this is a team sport...

Jamarcus Russell would be the best bet for the raiders because he can scramble away from defenders the horrible offensive line lets through. He can easily flick the ball down the field 60 yards easily so the raiders can score. But if it was almost any other team I would choose Brady Quin. Russell did not perform when he faced good defenses. When LSU played Florida. He had a passer rating of 55.5. Everyone says Quin can not win the big game but that is not true. Notre Dame is not the team it was 10, 15 years ago. He does not have the same options to pass to that he would have in the past. Also he makes everyone around him better just like Tom Brady. Brady Quin is a good leader and has a good morale.

Well first of all, Russel won't fall later then a 1st or 2nd round pick. Im sure the Lions would love to have Russel, but Quinn is just as good in my eyes, i think there happy to have a oppertunity to have Brady Quinn.

Russell was not a gamble at all. . . Quinn is a complete gamble. Nothing but a product of Notre Dame's hype and a cupcake schedule.

This was like last year's argument. (Leinart and Young). Quinn will have a better start because he's more ready, but in the long run, Russell has the bigger upside. We'll just wait three years (the typical amount of time for a young QB to finally understand the team's offense).

Quinn has better offensive weapons, so if i had to chose now I would say Quinn....But Russell is the better athlete so if they can get him a good line and some weapons to throw to Russell will be easily better

If Cleveland giives him enough support and with the acquiring of Joe Thomas who has superstar written all over him, barring any serious injury my pick is Quinn . I give Russell a good chance as well but will the Raiders wait because I think it will take a llittle time.

Russell has way more upside than Quinn. With Quinn, what you see is what you get. Nothing spectacular or special. Russell, on the other hand...if he puts it all together...watch out....
