A clean efficient kill is the goal of any meat packing plant manager. Think about it, if some cow doesn't die quickly, it can damage a bunch of equipment. As well as it's self. I takes longer to process. If, for no other reason, the money issue demands a clean kill. By clean I mean instant and humane.
As a hunter, a clean and efficient harvest saves the hunter a long walk. It could mean the difference between finding the downed animal or not. An instant death is an ethical hunters goal. Maiming or wounding an animal shows a lack of sportsmanship as well as disrespect for the animal.
I grew up on a farm raising and slaughtering our own animals for meat. Trust me, you want the animals to feel as little as possible. It's less messy that way.

The only time I felt guilty eating meat was when I ate some duck, I didn't want to but the dinner was really expensive and I knew I had too. I like ducks I don't want to eat them.

No, I have lived on a farm and the animals are there for a purpose. to feed and clothe people. You can have favorites, But fresh fried chicken or pork chops taste so good.

Not at all..............you should work on the kill floor of a meat packing facility. That bolt gun they use kills the cattle in seconds.

No guilt at all. I feel a sense of gratitude that they didn't die in vain.
