I have had my period the 1st time it was heavy and that was a week ago. Now its not heavy its MEGA HEAVY! I woke up and I had a whole lot of blood going down my leg, I had to go to the bath straight away!! (and I was wearing a tampon!!! but It still leaked through). I changed my underwear 40 mins ago because It started again. And, I just had to change my underwear then because It was running down my leg. My mother said if it continues I will end up in hospital tonight!! Should I see a doctor or just let it go like nothing had happend??

Try not to get stressed about it, but seeing a doctor would be wise. It would also relieve any anxiety you're having about it right now, at least then you'd get straight answers.

When I first started for about a year my periods were very heavy, I did go to the doctor and all I was told was that it sucks being female.

But as long as you have someone footing your insurance bill, go to your doctor - just to cover your bases. What I did when it was heavy was I wore both a tampon and a pad.

Good Luck.

Sometimes girls are just like that. This sounds funny, but wear a super plus tampon when you go to sleep and wear a diaper. I know it sounds funny but with that heavy flow, the diapers will keep it from going down your leg!

Definitely see a doctor, though try to go to an office and avoid the emergency room. It's not likely to be something really awful and probably just your body's way of coping with a totally new situation, but you might need a little hormonal adjustment for a while.

Switch to maxi pads instead of tampons straight away. if the pad fills in 40 mins then you should call the doc at minimum. if you cannot reach your doc in that case you should go to the hospital. It's better to deal with something like that before it's major then wait until it's too late.

If you continue to lose an insane amount of blood you will be going to the doctor because you will get week and dizzy and will need they will need to do a couple of things.
1. They need to see if everything is normal or if you have a problem that needs attention.
2. They may need to give you fluids to counteract the loss of blood and make you feel better.

Please don't worry but remember they will take good care of you if you do have to go. I hope it stops and you don't have to go, but if you do remember it is just to make sure everything is ok and to keep you feeling good.

I think you should see a doctor. When you start your cycle for the first time, it should be light for the first several months. Severe bleeding could be a sign of something serious, so let a doctor make that determination. I do know its not normal

Listen to your mother. She's been having periods for years. It can be very heavy when you're young but there's a limit to what's normal. If your mother thinks you need a doctor, you probably do.

i wouldn't get stressed it is normal for periods to be unpredictable but it does sound very heavy and does need to be seen by a doc, to much bleeding can lead to iron deficiency, so let your mum take you to the hospital or doctors to be on the safe side

When I first had my period I thought it was heavy when it really wasn't. Perhaps you're using the tampon incorrectly? Try using a maxi pad instead.
