Polyatomic ions are Polar molecules... true or not?

Since they often have uneven distribution of charge...

This depends on the ion. Some are polar while others are not. You need to look at their geometries to determine if they are polar or not. If they are polar you can look at each elements electronegativity to see to how polar they are.
