If you are as rabid as I am...did you catch the reference to a child who can remove the natural oxygen in the air?

Fire can't exist without oxygen--is this child CRITICAL in stopping the bomb---thus changing SO MUCH??

Nope, it's already been implied that when Peter explodes it's a nuclear explosion, no oxygen really required. Look at recent plot developments aside from that alternative timeline, that radioactive/nuclear fellow is headed to New York, Peter automatically copies the powers of anyone he can remember, and the nuclear fellow has already nearly blown it all up *once* before.

Besides, in that alternative timeline episode, "Five Years Gone", they mention the child was in grade school....which, if you wind the clock back, would make that kid an *infant* in the present day. I really *don't* think a *baby's* powers would kick in, in such a way that the *baby's* parents end up dying like that, do you?

Besides, when they were previewing the next week's episode, they already introduced Molly, the Official Plot Hammer whose power is Killing Invincible Bad Guys with her Mouth Ray...*rofl*, I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. ^_^

I just think it is sad that the show's writers have to resort to *this* rather than let people *do* what people really do when they are faced with a threat like Sylar. Normally people in real life get *together*, form posses if not outright *lynch mobs* and use Teamwork to inflict calculated aggression...

But, the head writer Tim Kring doesn't allow that idea, that is one of his *things*, he's sworn up and down in interviews that the "heroes" will not *ever* get together and form serious, lasting teams like what you see in the comics, because he thinks that would get in the way of character development too much, not to mention the realism of the series.

So yeah, this leads to people being *unrealistically* antisocial and unwilling to work together....which in turn leads to Plot Hammers. o_o

It doesn't mean I don't like the show anymore--I still love it.

But it does mean that it looks like things will run out of steam way before anyone *saves the world*, whatever that means.

Besides, the three people who *can* stop Peter from going *boom* are already *in* New York:

Hiro can stop time, and he is *armed*. But will he stab a man in the back to save the world, since surprise is going to be needed?

The Haitian can strip out people's memories...all he has to do is touch Peter, and what Peter can't remember, he cannot mimic. But what's the price to pay for doing that?

Claire is there too....if she can find a way to stay put, she *might* be able to get inside Peter's head and make him think about *someone else*, anyone else really, besides the Nuclear Guy....but will she have the guts or the brains to do the right thing and not run?

The pieces are there to stop the "bomb". They are almost there to stop Sylar too, the mundane way, with prejudice.

But Kring won't let people do what's natural to *humans* and let them work together....this is both the saving grace and the downfall of the show in my humble opinion.

Thanks for your time! ^_^

Yes but oxygen isn't necessary for a nuclear reaction.

Look at the Sun. There is no oxygen in space and it still "burns". And you would be vaporized by the heat and radiation before you could even get close to the surface!

I'm thinking by the looks of the damage in the future city, we're looking at a nuclear bomb, not an incendiary bomb.

Unfortunately, no. A nuclear explosion is not dependent on oxygen. Sucking the oxygen out of the air might prevent secondary fires from starting and limit damage that way, but the majority of the destruction would still happen, oxygen or no oxygen.

If sucking the oxygen out of the air stops the bomb from exploding - wouldn't sucking the oxygen out of the air still kill the people of NY anyways?
He said that the kid killed all the kids in that school by sucking the oxygen...so wouldn't he kill everyone in NY? The bomb woudln't do it...but he would.

Favorite characters: Angela, Sylar, and Elle are freaking awesome. They better not kill any of them off! Get rid of: Mohinder (Is it in his contract to do the voiceovers in the beginning or something?) or Tracy (or Ali Larter's various characters). I wouldn't mind them as much if they got better storylines.

I love that show. yeah I caught that reference but that supposed to happen in the future if they didnt' stop the explosion. Now that we're back to the present who knows if the future will be changed? As far as I know, only Nathan spoke about that child and I don't think he'll know that in the present time so I don't know.

of course everyone knows that nuclear does not work on air or dependant on air but human beings are and maybe she is going to be the one who is sylars nemesis for the very fact that she can suffocate him and that she and peter can work off of each other as peter can emulate others powers.Just my theory though .

Science is not my thing, but I think your right about fire. Fire can't live without oxygen(air).
