This movie was awsome. It blows away 300. The director of "Sin City" and "Kill Bill" in one movie. What scared everyone away. I will never understand why the top two movies of the year (for the price of one) in the action/thriller catagory did not get more support. Not to mention the previews created by the directors were halarious.

OK the trailer might have looked weird, but have either of these directors ever had a trailer that looks normal. Sin City, Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction all looked weird. Everyone didn't think pulp fiction was stupid even though there was a soul in a brief case. What the hell, a machine gun on a leg looks normal compared to the other movies they have released. If you are educated in film, you looked past the trailer and saw the movie because tarantino and rodriguez have built such a strong reputation, and you knew that they would not fail to entertain.

...saw the film three times, in the course of a week, and plan to see it again, before it ends it's prematurely short run at the theaters.

I really got into it, because it exemplified the excitement of going to see the old double (and sometimes triple) feature grindhouse films in the early '70's, mid '70's and early '80's; the film strip grain...the abrupt jump cuts...the missing reels...the outrageous trailers...the hocky/campy acting...the adrenaline-charge action...the gore...the sex...shall I go on???

The only things missing were the sticky floors, the urine-permeated theater, the warm stale popcorn, the flat soda, the food stains on the screen, the torn moldy mildewed curtains...all of these were common staples of the old, delapitated grindhouse theaters (it was kind of surreal, watching a grindhouse style film...in a clean theater!!!); but back then, you were willing to brave all of this, to see the raw, eclectic and visceral films they would show. You would hardly ever see these types of films at your family-friendly multiplex, back then.

'Rumor control has it, both Tarantino and Rodriguez want to do this every two years or so; reportedly, the trailer for "Machete" is being groomed and extended for full length feature film release (I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing "Thanksgiving" and "Don't", as feature films, as well). However, with the dismal box office returns on the film to date (damn the people, who weren't willing to brave the three-hour-plus running time!!!), this might not happen!!!

...one can only hope, otherwise!!!

Supposedly, to appease the masses who passed on "Grindhouse", due to the running time, Tarantino and Rodriguez have been tasked to re-edit and extend (and clean up the scratches, jumps, etc.) both "Planet Terror" and "Thunder Bolt"...er, I mean "Death Proof" for separate feature film release in late summer or early fall (they reportededly already did this for the Asian and European releases of the film...areas where the grindhouse experience is unknown); the extended versions will reportedly also contain the faux missing reels, as indicated in both films.

Oh please a woman killer with a machine gun for a leg? That is meant to be "sexy?" Come now, Quentin Tarantino can do better than that. He made pulp fiction and kill bill 1 and 2. A comeback movie is meant to be either inspiring, funny, or action-packed. This movie is none of the above! This movie is a comedy in the sense that it, according to the trailers, has no plot no reason why a woman's leg should have or become a gun!
Enough written!

If my theater had gotten it...I would have seen it several times. As for it being *moronic* that is their opinions.I think it is original and brilliantly done by both Rodgriuez and Taratino. They pay homage to the "Grindhouse" movies of the 60's and 70's.If anyone is a TRUE movie lover and enjoy great film making, they DO need to see this film.

I loved it! I thought it was the most creative movie(s) that has come out in a long time. But it's not every ones cup of tea. You have to have a strong appreciation for film to get this movie.

I wouldn't waste my time on a Tarentino or a Rodriguez film. They're both hacks with a juvenile perspective. All they're capable of doing is reworking old films and adding more violence and blood. Unless you're 12 years old, I can't understand why you'd be interested in their garbage.

Because even the previews look stupid. Come on, a go go dancer with a machine gun for a leg? That's moronic beyond belief.....

Pretty girls shouldn't have machine guns for legs. I'm tired of stupid, gratuitous violence. I doubt I'll watch it on network TV 15 years from now.

It was over-hyped and doesn't appeal to the general movie-going audiences. My husband loved it, and although I admit it was different, it was too "over the top" for me. I liked the second part/story/movie better than the first one--the stunts were great!
