It could be the distributor itself it has an optical sensor that reads light that goes through a disk to tell where the camshaft is positioned something in this system could be bad. Also check to see if there's voltage going to the coil.

they make a breather that will work with the hei system you had on it,i would have stayed with that system on that car, anyway do you have spark from the wire that comes from the ignition switch when its in the start position you have to make sure you have fire on it,if you do the car will have to start, and make sure its on the positive side of the coil then make sure the one from the distributor is on the negative side of the cool ,if all those are right it should run,the only thing that could have happened was the condenser went dead in it that can happen to a brand new distributor, other wise there's something crossed up,go back over it and check it again,id try another condenser ,even though its new that doesn't mean its good, good luck.

Your spark plugs may be wet, shot, or failing, but your power source to your spark plugs may also be the fault of your cars failure. You should run a snap-no scan tool on it and check out the diagnosis. you can just go to your local mechanic and ask for a estimate so they need to run it. then if you lke the price, you can get it fixed there, but if not, they told you whats wrong so you can fix it yourself!! Hope that helped!!!
