Kidd and even not in his prime. Look at this year, he is 34 and he still can average a triple double in a playoff series. He is the closest to average one in the regular season since Oscar Robertson did it ages ago. He makes plays like Martin and Mikki Moore like they are all star (yes Martin was an all star in only the year he was with Kidd). Not to mention, Kidd's defense is terrific! Kidd is truly an all round team player. Nash is good but if u swap him with Kidd now, Phoenix will still be in the playoff (may even win!) and the Nets will be gone already!

i think one of the trademarks of a true point guard is that he makes the players around him better.
The advantage would have to go to J. Kidd in his prime because J. Kidd has always done what he has done throughout his career and he has had less talented teams than Nash's current team- and Kidd has gone much farther in the playoffs than the Suns.
Nash really wasn't all that noticeable until he came to Phoenix and i think it is more the system than Nash (don't get me wrong he's a great point guard- but i think the system helps him a lot).
Also Jason is a much better defender and rebounder.

Although Jason Kidd do hit the big shots when needed, but Nash is a way better shooter. I will take the present day Nash.

to me Nash is only really good becuase of the people around him so he averages a lot of assists. For this reason I say Jason Kidd in his prime years was better. Jason Kidd gets like triple-doubles like every night but Steve Nash is only good at passing and shooting, Nash doesn't reobund. For this reason I would say Jason Kidd is better

I would take Jason Kidd over Nash. He is just as good a passer as Nash, but he plays MUCH better defense (nash playes no defense at all), and he is probably one of the best rebounding guards of all time. Nash is a better scorer, but ill take rebounding and defense.
I might even take Kidd over Nash right NOW. Nash is amazing, but the team that he is on allows him to be so great. I dont think he would be as great on any other team (maybe GS).
Jason Kidd over Nash.

You gotta remember....Nash learned mostly from Kidd back in the day when they were on the Suns together. Nash later went his own way and invented a new style of play....team play....every player had career numbers the season he returned to Phoenix, including the MIP award for Boris Diaw last season. They're hard to compare, Kidd is a behind Nash on assists, but he is a better scorer

steve nash no doubt. I know that kidd averaged a triple double, but nash is just huge for the suns. 2x mvp and many say he should win mvp this year. And he has turned his team into championship contention and nash is just more consistent offensively and does a good job for his size defensively (Nash leads the league in taking charges). Even though kidd is very good, he has never been a big force like nash for his team.

Hmmmm. That's a tough one. Nash I guess because his awesome talent is fresh in my mind. Kidd just didn't have the quickness that Nash has which makes Nash more interesting to watch. You can tell he loves to play.

J Kidd, he actually took his team to the NBA Finals. If Nash ever makes a trip to the Finals then you can make an arguement for him.
