Disk Defrag won't free up disk space, it just makes your computer run faster.

If you think you don't have much on your computer, it may be that you have some programs that you don't know are there, like spyware. Download Ad-Aware SE from http://lavasoft.de and scan your computer, you might be surprised at how much could be there.

Also, remove any programs you never use by going to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs

The best way to free up disk space is to delete some files that you do not need anymore. Also, there is a program that is called Disk Cleanup. This would scan your computer and predict how much space you can gain from deleting some files. You can access this program by Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup. The Disk Defrag helps to make the computer faster, but does little to free up disk space. Good luck!

My best advice is look in this weekends adds and buy yourself another hard drive then you will have plenty of space and wont have to delete anything. Also you could defrag your computer also try a disc cleanup it compacts files you haven't used in a long time sometimes it can free up a ton of gigs. You can also delete temporary files and programs you never use. But if you don't want to delete anything you can find internal hard drives with 100 gigs or so for $60 check office depot adds or get and external may cost you more but then you really have nothing to install. Just plug and go. :) Good luck

Defragmentation DOESN'T add a free space.
Clear unused software from your computer, clear also the unused files and documents, video, audio files or burn them to a cd.

A. Open "Start >> Control Panel >> Internet Options", click Delete Files, Delete Cookies, Clear history

B. Open "Start >> Control Panel >> Taskbar and Start Menu", click "Start Menu" tab, click "Customize", click "Advanced" tab, click on "Clear List"

B. Open "C:\Windows\Temp", clear everything you can there. (these are temporary files)

C. Go to and clear everything in
1. "C:\Documents and Settings\YourAccount\Local Settings\Temp\", where I dont know YourAccount
(TIP: "Local Settings" is a hidden folder so you need to unhide it but however removing the content in this folder using explorer is not a good manner of doing it. I use Total Commander to do this)

ADD A HARD DISK DRIVE TO YOUR PC (THE BEST SOLUTION)

Ok, 1st thing I would do is: Open "MY COMPUTER" and right click on your C:\ DRIVE or Local DRIVE Something to that nature. Then select properties. That should show you how big your C: Drive is and how much Space you have free.. and SO on.

2nd, I would go into CONTROL PANEL then ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE and remove any un-wanted or not needed programs.

3rd. In the CONTRO PANEL go into INTERNET. Clear your files or temporary Internet FIles, Cookies and so on.

LASTYLY, Do a search on your computer for files you can move onto other media. IE., cd/dvd's, floppies, zip drives. I'd search for *.jpg, *.gif, *.mp3, *.wma, *.doc and so on and move them off your hard drive

Delete any files, programs, games, etc. that you don't use often. Go to Control Panel and click on, install/uninstall programs, let page load up and take a look at what's there that you don't need. Be very careful on what you delete, deleting something you think you don't need may cause your other programs to not run efficiently. You may want to get help on this one... good luck!

Try uninstalling unused programs.

If you cannot get rid of a lot of stuff it may be time to consider a hard disk upgrade.

They are very cheap and come in high capacites.

In addition to the other comments, you may have a faulty hard drive. Sometimes hard drives do go bad and need to be replaced, so look into that as well.
