There isn't anything you can't do or eat in particular during your period. Some people find that eating vegetarian, not eating chocolate, avoiding alcohol and caffeine, and also keeping away from drugs, even OTC ones, helps them have an easier time of it. AFAIK, soda has no effect though.

Whatever you heard about drinking soda during your period is false.
There is nothing whatsoever about your period that would change what you eat or drink.
When it comes to things you can or can't do - the only thing is that you make sure to wear a tampon while swimming, and replace it with a fresh one as soon as you are done. (Keeping the water clean, and then making sure the pool water doesn't stay in contact for long, causing an infection.)
The only thing that might dictate a change in what you do, might be a strong case of cramps with your period, making you too uncomfortable to be rigorously active.
Don't believe the person who told you that what you drink can make your flow heavier. All that is actually determined by the lining your body builds up inside the uterus over the past month. Your period is just when it all lets go from the surface and exits to clean out the uterus for the next month. It's like flushing.

Where the heck did you hear that? You eat and do everything you would do during the other 3 weeks of the month! This includes swimming (as long as you wear a tampon), drinking soda, drinking alcohol (if you're 21+)...everything!!!
That time of the month is when you SHOULD give in to your cravings, since your body is craving particular nutrients, which it associates with particular foods.
Specific foods and drinks will not affect period heaviness or length. Stress, overall diet, birth control, and sexual activity will.

If I couldn't have soda during my period, I would probably hurt someone. I need all the caffeine I can get then. I don't think there is anything you can't eat or do during your period. There might be some things you personally aren't comfortable doing some days, but that's all. Don't let your period stop you from doing anything.

During your period, the only thing you really shouldn't eat is a lot of salt because it helps retain water.
Other than that, you can eat and drink anything. Whoever told you about not drinking soda is wrong. I drink soda both during my period and not.
There is nothing you cannot do during your period. You can do anything during your period.

There is nothing you "cant" eat or drink during your period. However you should try to avoid caffiene (coffee, chocolate, cola and tea {most herbal teas are ok}), because caffiene can make PMS, particularly cramps, worse for some women.
There is no particular food or drink that is going to seriously affect your health by consuming it during your period.
But keep hydrated and drink plenty of water, as bleeding dehydrates you.
ABOUT THE CAFFIENE: every women is different, some can tolerate the caffiene, but i know a few how get quite ill if they have it during their period...everyone is different!

You can drink soda, but the reason why you've heard not to drink it is that caffeine acts as a diuretic and thins the flow, making it appear that there's more. You probably wouldn't want to do very strenuous physical activity during the first day or so of your period, because activity actually causes the flow to increase and you'll risk overflowing.

I eat and drink anything I want during my period. I don't think anything will effect your period. Eat and drink what you want, its bad enough you have to deal with cramps, bloating, bleeding and pads or tampons for five days.

I used to use my period as an excuse for not having to participate in gym class. Other than that there is nothing you can or cannot during you period. But you can still use it as an excuse. That tends to set equal rights for women back a few years.
