Very good question and perceptual too. If you are the personality you are today because of the decisions you made yesterday, then the person you will become is based on the memories you remember of yesterday.

No... my memories are what have freed me. They used to be something that held me down, and held me back... but then I realized it wasn't the memories... it was my attitude towards them.
Now it's almost a way of saying... "look how far I've come... and isn't life good?"
