You know what would truely solve the burglary problem. If every responsible person were to be armed. If more criminals were shot when breaking into houses, do you think they would be as willing to burglarize? I saw this in my hometown. A spree of robberies took place over four months. In that time, gun sales went up. Three burgalers were shot in three separate incidents, two died. There was NOT ONE burglary that took place for an entire year after those incidents.

Anyway, Criminals steal because they are scum, unable to work or produce or achieve anything for themselves. They live off of what others have earned. And I hate hearing about "disadvantaged people". As long as this country has an unemployment rate, which by the way is adjusted according to how many jobs are available, that means that there a jobs needing filled and these freeloaders could perhaps get one.

For one thing we have criminals because we have laws. We have more people in jail than any nation on earth (2.03 million, or 701 per 100,000). China is a poor second with 115 million. We are fighting a lost war on drugs because alcohol prohibition (1919-1932) taught us nothing. We have 'get tough' minimum-sentence polices that keep our jails filled. But this is not talking about things like the Khmer Rogue putting the entire population of Cambodia into slave labor camps. But THINK for a moment, North Korea might hold a lot of people. That might mean that the only other people jailing more than we do are notorious authoritarian states! But to answer your question as to WHY we have criminals, there are the 'haves' and the 'have nots'. The 'have nots' want what you have. If he tries to kill you and you shoot him in the foot, YOU become a criminal if you are unfortunate enough to live in England or Australia! And YOU are added to the numbers of inmates of that country because of a stupid law. So there you are. People have wants (no matter wrong they are). Other people have laws, no matter how wrong they are, too.
