I'm pretty bad about it myself. What I do is make a weekly list with the day I'm scheduled to complete the item. I do pretty well with this except when I get stressed then I'll be all out of kilter but I'll get right back on it two weeks later or whatever.

I actually feel better when I do this and I have less guilt if I don't finish eveything because I can see some progress.

First of all, I think it's helpful to just learn to accept the fact that you procrastinate. For bette or worse, it's where you are now. When you stop fighting against it, there's less pressure and more energy to get at the root caust and begin to make some changes. Procrastination is usually hesitancy to action due to fear of failure. You can go through you life trying to minimize failure, or your can begin to move toward success. A lot has to do with your focus. If you approach a tast with fears of what can happen when things go wrong, you find reasons to hesitate and resist taking action. When you work with the end in mind and think of the benefits of taking action, you can move through your fears and begin taking more action. It follows the steps of awareness, acceptance, and change. When you're ready to change and take action, you will. Be patient and persistent.

Good luck!

allow yourself to miss an important deadline that results in a significant, adverse outcome for you or a family member. You'll never procrastinate again.

I've heard about the procrastination society, but I keep on putting off joining.

don't think of a drug. you need to slowly start taking responsability of you life and your tasks. i procrastinate a lot, too. what works for me is to not be hard on myself, but to make little changes. little changes like, today i take out the garbage. tomorrow, i call my mom. and so on. then, you add more things you can do in one day. whatever you do, DON'T GO FOR PILLS. pills for all our problems give us ill health. trust me on this because, i have been on pills for years and they do more damage than good. pills affect your body and mind, they don't do the physical work for you. good luck. :)

I prefer the method of living your life according to lists. Everyday, start with a list. There is an odd satisfaction on crossing off things.

You stop being a "dessert" person, one who eats dessert first. Choose to do the hardest thing you have to do and when you get it done, it will make you feel so accomplished, everything else will seem like a breeze.

do this test on yourself. leave a plate of leftovers in your kitchen sink and don't touch it for days. don't wash it, don't do anything. see how long can you take, holding off the wash.

that's what will happen to everything around you if you don't get to it - ever.

Ummmm, well, have a good think about it, weigh up the pros and cons and then get back to me.
