I simplified the fraction sounds more professional but,,,who are you saying this to? Sixth graders need the word reduced.

They're actually both proper. You could also say "have." For example: "I have reduced the fraction." "I have simplified the fraction." They're both said properly. Good job. Just keep in mind, you could use have also, but you don't have to.

Reduced is the way go. Simplify might come across as being condescending.....that you made it easier for them because they're dumb. Just my opinion.

I downgraded the fraction so that the fraction was easier to read as it was simplified thanks to reducing it.

Simplify. In most papers, they ask for the answers in the simplest form.
