are you talking about computer coded keys, like those of newer cars? If so, you can't have it copied from somewhere that makes keys. you would have to instead purchase one from the manufacturer. I was going to purchase one from ford, but they were going to charge me about $50.00 for a second key. If you loose your keys a lot, it might be worth it.

Go to a locksmith they usually make all kinds of keys even the black holders or they might wanna give you a duplicate without the black top

You would purchase the black handle to slide on the key.

the dealer of the make of your car can get the black handle keys, or some places sell them.. take them to a home hardware, canadian tire, etc to have them cut.

you can go any wear keys are cut as long as it doesnt say do not duplicate on the key .i just had mine done at home depot.
