what does it do and whats it used for? And does every computer come with it for the internet or just computers on a network like in a business?

Bandwidth is indeed part of ANY network connection which of course includes the internet as well as local networks.

Dialup access is low bandwidth. DSL and CABLE are higher bandwidth connections. The term is simply used to refer to the "flow" of data. Higher is better because the data flow is faster!

Usually within a business network (or even home network) the local connection is at 100mbs. (some are at 1000mbs) The 1000 is faster so data moves quicker between machines. Same is true on the internet 1.5mbs is much better than 57kbs (dialup) It is still much below the local area speed.

This has more to do with the network and connectivity as opposed to individual computer.

bandwidth is the amount of data that can run to and from your computer. The higher the bandwidth of a channel, the more information it can carry.
