pads. tampons hurt. a lot. and cause pads are A LOT safer. tampons can get stuck, and you might have to get surgery, but if it can't get out, it will be stuck in there forever, and then I THINK, like..you die? hahah i think that's .00000001% chance. but you also can get toxic shock syndrome and i think you can die of that

For younger girls just starting out--I'd suggest a pad. Shoving something up yourself can be a daunting task for a 13-year old. And pads have definitely come a long way from the 'diaper days'.

Tampons are definitely my weapon of choice. They're clean, comfortable and convenient. No need to change those babies every hour and no worrying about night-time accidents on the sheets. (ewww) If they hurt--you're using a tampon that is too absorbant. As for TSS--come on now. Follow the directions and change the sucker every 8 hours or more. It's not rocket science.

I totally agree with a previous post--pads are smelly. There's no avoiding it--if you wear a pad, we can smell you. Sorry girls...

I used to wear tampons from after the age of 18 til about 6 years ago when I had to stop due to medical reasons unrelated to the tampon itself. I now use and prefer pads because I find them to be more comfortable.

I'd prefer pads because you have to stick those tampons all the way up there. Plus, when you walk with pads, it feels like you are not wearing them. Tampons can also cause TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

I prefer tampons.

I have a heavy flow and tampons are a lot more comfortable, less messy than pads.
I have been wearing tampons for the past 12 years. Before I used to have to wear pads from the time I first started my periods on my 13th birthday to my occasional period through my teens and 20s to the time I started bleeding all the time 15 years ago. I wish I had switched to tampons sooner.
I went through a lot of messes in the mornings before then.

TAMPONS DO NOT CAUSE TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME. TSS IS RARE. TSS IS CAUSED BY GIRLS WHO LEAVE THEIR TAMPONS IN BEYOND 8 HOURS (IRRESPONSIBLE USAGE).

I have never gotten TSS in the past 12 years I have worn tampons.

During the day time I prefer tampons. I don't like the "diaper" feeling.. and sometimes pads irritate me. I won't sleep in a tampon though so at night I go with pads. :D

I prefer tampons because on a pad, the "liquids" spread out and get all over the place. A tampon soaks all that up before it makes a mess.

Tampons-pads are so uncomfortable for me. No matter how small the pad is, I always feel like I have a duck tail.

I like to use both. Tampons last longer during theday, but the pads won't cause toxic shock syndrome. I really prefer Insteads, though. You can leave them in for up to twelve hours, and they are more discreet and reliable than pads.

I prefer tampons because they are comfortable to me. I can't feel them and it is really easy for me to insert. I can't stand pads! Eh! They feel like I am wearing a diaper! And that is not a good feeling! Especailly after you have been sitting down for a long time and when you stand up you can feel all the blood rushing out!!
