That's a semi-aquatic turtle, the same category as red eared sliders. It would be ok as a first pet but these a fairly more tricky then most. All aquatic or semi-aquatic turtles need a basking area and water. If you want, I can send you pics of my turtle's set up to give you an idea of what a semi-aquatic needs.

Second sentence under the photo.. "Found in streams, creeks and lakes.
It is a water turtle but not totally aquatic. Treat it the same as a Red-eared Slider.... A water area and some land to bask.

As far as land turtles go, there are many species of "land" turtles and there are also tortoises. Box turtles and wood turtles are "land" turtles and make excellent pets. All turtles and tortoises have defined personalities than can make for enjoyable pet-owner interactions. Land TURTLES are easier to take care of than aquatic turtles, as cleaning the water for aquatic turtles can be costly and time consuming. Set ups for any turtle can be expensive and maintenance is a must to avoid odor. Tortoises can get very large and consume lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, which you much also keep in mind. Most keepers build outdoor tortoise pens for their animals to avoid cramped quarters indoors, but this generally only works in warm or temperate climates. I keep almost beginning to list tons and tons of information for you regarding turtle and tortoise keeping, but I could never fit it all in here. There are so many species and the care is so varied I would need to know what turtle or tortoise you're looking at specifically before I could really help you further. Feel free to message me if you have specific questions.

It's a water turtle. Water turtles will spend some time on land, either to rest (bask in the sun) or lay eggs. If you notice under its habitat, they list rivers, streams, and creeks. It's definitely a water turtle.

Semi-Aquatic. Loves land and likes to bask in the heat. But spends most of its time in the water.

that is a "water" turtle. most turtles will bask on fallen trees or something. Like most reptiles do. That is why you were confused, because it mentioned that.

It doesn't have webbed feet so its not all water turtle. By its shape and traits. It is a land and water Turtle. if you plan to keep it have a place for it to just sit in the water to relax.
