A slow agonizing and painful death. A disease or paralysis so devastating that it takes a decade of continuous health care just to take away a fraction of the pain. When hope is abolished from the bargaining table and the horrible screams are heard from miles away.

The death of a child. You grow to expect your parents to pass before you, and people your age, well, it is to be expected that someone would go first.
But, you always expect your children to out live you, and when on passes away, it can be harder than anything you will ever go through. . .

I would have to say that being a child and suffering sexual abuse at a pretty young age (like while still a "preteen") is pretty bad.
