Because no democrat could have dreamed up a national health care plan as liberal as his?

Discussing either politics or religion is bound to attract nuts and detractors who see only black and white, and Mitt's candidacy seems to have mixed both discussions.
The comparison between Mitt and JFK is tenuous at best, the least of which JFK was a democrat. Kennedy's religious affiliation as a Catholic was discussed, but it actually came down to who came across as 'better' on TV - Nixon or Kennedy?
Mitt's association with mormonism is not simply a Sunday-go-to-meeting relationship. Mormonism demands a strict way of life, dietary restrictions, clothing requirements (garments), temple worship (where until recently involved grisly acts of mutilation gestures), and complete and unquestioning loyalty to the 'living prophet'. Mitt holds a temple recommend, and has for decades, and is aware of all the changes made to the ritual. The internet has finally shown what goes on during the endowment ceremony, and frankly it is not sacred as much as silly. The Commander in chief should not be doing anything remotely 'silly' even if mormons think it's great.
Mitt has sworn to uphold the prophet above anyone. That implies advice from his (hopefully) gentile staff means nothing while the mutterings of a nonagenarian in Salt Lake could have national impact. What if Gordon said "It's time to move to Missouri and reclaim New Jerusalem!"
Mitt has a considerable religious baggage to distance himself from if he is to be a viable candidate. Until he can prove that, mormonism hangs over his campaign like a dark cloud.

If I could vote, I would vote for him. I wish he becomes president because I know that he would be a great president. And yes, I am Mormon too.
It is too wrong to make a huge deal about the fact that he is Mormon and people don't want him. Anti-Mormons don't understand the doctrine and that is why they keep saying that we are cult, commit polygamy, etc...
Bush is Cristian or pentecostal or something like that and nobody has made a it a huge thing. People should not judge people because of their religions, race, traditions, etc....

Religion has no bearing on me and I hope that others feel the same way.
I believe that Romney stands a danged good chance. If Thompson throws his hat into the ring, I'll have to take a close look at both of them. It would never be based on religion but would be based on who would best represent our country.

Wishy washy.
was for gun control until he was going to run for the Republican nomination now he is against gun control , also became a"life long hunter" at that time
Was for a woman's right to choose, now he is against it, there goes that pesky nomination quest again.
I could not care less if he was Mormon, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, If he is already this wishy washy, we don't need him

""He comes off a little too polished and rehearsed.""
He is always that way. Even in casual conversation.
He is a consumate speaker. And sounds like he might be making a speech but that is just teh way he talks.
Its better than listening to someone who cant speak.

So very true.
The only reasons I can think of is that he's a little too big on gun control and "pro-choice". Though he may have just said those things to get voted as Governor.

Personally, I have yet to be convinced that he's the best of the candidates. I currently support Fred Thompson.

He comes off a little too polished and rehearsed. He also has changed his position on issues, that is not necessarily a bad thing. I will agree he is one of the better picks out of the Republicans.
It is still too early to say who I will vote for.

I would never base my vote on a candidate's religion. I would never vote for Romney because he is a Republican in this era where Republicans have shown their true colors -- but are the American people looking?
