One of the best books i have ever read is The Giver by Lois Lowry, it is a science fiction book and the best book I have read. In nonfiction i would recommend Dispatches by the Edge by Anderson Cooper. Another really good book is The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. There are many other great books out there too. You have to expose yourself to each type. If you choose to read The Giver, tell me what you think about the ending.

Many books can enrich your life, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Some books that have made an impression on me are the Chronicle of Narnia Books (especially the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe). Yes they are childrens books but they speak to adults as well. The Purpose Driven life is also a very good book, but it is not some thing you just read. You need to take your time and really think about each chapter. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is also a good book, it really made me think about what is important in life and it reminded me how detrimental it is to carry a grudge. Hope this helps, and happy reading!!

I know this is going to sound really pathetic but . . . ask a parent or grandparent or favorite aunt/uncle what books they read that were important to them. Even if after reading the book yourself you are not enriched personally, it will give you some insight into them as a person and not just as a relative. You may even begin to understand them better if only a little better.

Pick up "Good Omens," by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It will make you laugh hard enough to be embarassed reading the book in public while giving you plenty to think about regarding the nature of God and humanity.
