I just saw the most beautiful Indian Bike the other day. It was brand new but was the same style as the old 1950's model.

Can anyone tell me about this Indian Motorcycle?

YES! I own a 2001 indian scout and love it. Indian did go under again in 2003 but are back in action and will have a 2008 Chief out 1st of the year??
This time they will make it.
I'm assuming you saw a Chief the 2002?? had a 100 Powerplus engine with the Carb on the left side just like the old one. Also has the round head covers.

Indian in the early days was a major competitor to Harley-Davidson. Eventually HD won out but Indian is back in the race. The bike you saw is a prototype of what is coming out yet this year. It will be a small volume and if all goes well you will see more of them. It is called the Chief and is the 2008 model year bike. They tried to come out in 2003 (for an 2004 launch) but couldn't quite pull it off. One bike version was to have the wide rear tire (Harleys version of the Phat Bob). They have done their homework and I feel have a chance for a great run. They are recently set up in North Carolina. You can go on line and reserve a Chief for when they are built.

Hope this helps.

When I was a kid I had a 47 Indian Chief. Best bike in the world. Just wish that I had it now. Sold it for $125.00 when I joined the Navy.
