It marked the second and final 'dethroning defeat' of Napoleon Bonaparte, and it therefore marked the end of the French Revolution and the final restoration of the monarchy. It therefore made the world safe again for Royal and Imperial rule over the common rabble. In Europe, at least. For a short while, anyway.
"English naval hero Wellington"?! You shouldn't have slept through your history class!

It was important because it destroyed the French Empire which was sweeping Europe and threatening to create a united Europe. After the French defeat, Europe was split into small states with a delicate balance of power and Britain no longer needed to become involved in European affairs. The peace lasted for nearly a century, with some minor conflicts in between, until the Germans and the French fell out in 1914 and dragged Britain into a European War.

Well, the most significant result is that England is not a French Speaking Nation. It resulted in the tyrant Napolean being finally and forever shipped off to exile in St. Helena and it also resulted in the death of the English Naval Hero Wellington ... and resulted in France finally settling down and once again forging the civilised nation they always should have been ... given their literate and arts background.

I hope this helps. Have a great weekend.
