Do you actually look into their eyes and talk to them, only to see their expression.....as if they understand what you are saying?? What's one of the things you say often to your dog?

No. It's one of the hardest things for me to do.. Not surprising, seeing as I just answered a question asking if it would be harder to for me to keep quiet or talk all day long. I find it difficult enough trying to hold up a conversation, not to mention blabbing away with my dogs. It feels awkward, and I don't want to develop the mentality that my dogs are human beings.

I don't have a dog, but I do talk to all animals when I see them and look them in their eyes so they know you are talking to them.

yes I do. I talk to him like I would people..he understands what I say to him. I have been talking to him since he was a puppy.
I often say. Lets go for a walk.. Get your leash. he goes and gets it. or lets go bye bye . he is at the door waiting..

Me and Kalvin (my baby dog) talk a lot and often. He's the only one who knows my innermost secrets. And yeah, he does understand me - whether I talk in English or Tagalog (my mother tongue) but when I start rattling in Spanish, he does seem confused. Poor doggie!...he's only bi-lingual.

sadly I don't have a dog so when I need to talk to one I drive 40 miles south of here to see Sadie my friend's dog who will listen to me for hours as long as I'm touching her somewhere

yep, all the time and yes i look in her eyes
ill say either:
Do you want some dinner
are you hungry
do you want to go for a walk
aren't you a good dog
sometimes i even tell my dog my life sory!
She knows some things i tell her like want to go for a walk.

Yes I talk to my dog and the thing I say most is "Are you mommy's baby?" lol Second thing is "Get your head off my pillow" !!!!!! lol and third is "Are you Daddy's spoiled rotten baby?" lol
