Do you remember way back when Bush and Margaret Spellings used that "gay muppet" argument to cut the funding on NPR and PBS?

Well - now how do you like living in a world where all we get to hear about is Anna Nicole and Virginia Tech?
Wouldn't you like to know what's going on next door?

Wouldn't you appreciate public access that is not funded by a mega-church or Rupert Murdoch?

Just curious...

I think life was a whole lot better when there was a whole lot more news and less sensationalism. We just don't hear the word journalism too much anymore. Local news channels are filled with local gossip stories or tabloid items. The agenda of the Right Wing is to keep the American public uniformed and the more they can suppress real news the better for their political gains. The news media has been manipulated in to being soft on criticism and controversy.

It's funny you mention that.

On a smaller scale, I was telling my mother that I'm tired of hearing news in San Francisco (I live in San Jose area, about an hour away), but all the news channels are focused on "Bay Area" not my local area.

We recently moved and when I left, KNTV was "local" San Jose, Santa Clara, Campbell. I don't know what happened, but now I have to wait through all kinds of news for other cities just to get close to my city. .... And I know I'm not getting all the stories like I used to.

Someone mentioned newspaper... now our newspaper has went from "San Jose Mercury" to "Mercury News" focusing on most of the Bay Area. I try to read my city's Police Web Page and the city or county web pages to get local news, but it's not as easy as it used to be.

Depending on the ''Media'' for any real news is a mistake in my opinion! Most of what I've seen is rarely the ''whole'' and never ''all'' the story. I've also noticed that it is biased as well. I get my facts elsewhere, sometimes on the internet and at other times from the country where the news is taking place.

I never have depended on television for my news. Get your local paper delivered and there should be a section titled "Local" another "The World" and so on. I also get news from other newspapers on line to learn about the different communities and what interests them in America.

If I want the headlines and scores in sports I will click on ESPN. If I want to find out the full story I pick up the paper. The same as the news. You have to search it out. Real journalists are out there working the stories.

Less local news coverage? I do it every single day. Maybe it's dry where you live, but I'm busy each and every day with local news.

Hey, Boss, you remember a guy on ESPN Radio named Bob Sagendorf? Just wondering...

Yep.... I would buy land in US and build a house to live!
It would be great if all these nations all over the world shut down the media.

you have a serious anger problem with Bush and religion in general. Tell you what. Make billions of dollars by working hard and donate it all to your favorite causes like NPR/PBS. But I be you have never even sent in $10 during your local PBS funding drive...have you. Try to fix problems, don't just ***** about it
