I had a best friend in high school and I have been searching for her since we were in college - I was in Detroit and she was in Illinois. Time has a way of adding more knowledge and wisdom to your life and when you and a friend are separated for a period of time - and you find each other - it provides a great number of things to catch up on. Personally, I think the foundation of the initial friendship - if it was a good one - will always be good and it is possible to become good friends again BUT - keep in mind when you grow up, people get married, have children, experience divorce, death, etc. Sometimes these things can alter the way a friendship 'was'. People do change you know. For example, my friend pursued a life of being a homemaker and had 4 children. Me? I pursued a career of singing and performing. On the one hand, we'd have lots to talk about - but I am sure our lives might be boring to the other. Remember that there has to be some kind of camaraderie between people in order to maintain a long lasting friendship.

It's never too late. You may not be as close but it's always good to have another friend.Who knows you may be close again . My best friend moved to Ca. when she got married.Ilive in Ma.we have been friends since we were 3 we both will be 23 this year so we've been friends for 20 years .we e-mail each other every day and call once a week. what also is great is that her husband and my borfriend have been friend for almost as long..keep in touch with them.

Two of my best friends moved away, recently, and we still hang out. My BFF from 2nd grade (haven't seen her since) just called me, and we're gonna hang out next weekend. Well, no it's not to late! Of course it's not! Well, you'll probably never have the same relationship as if you were living across the street. But, any relationship is better than just saying good bye and never seeing her again. Umm... instead of seeing eachother everyday:

-eMail
-telephone
-and try to see eachother face to face as much as possible.

If you make an effort to keep your friendship alive, you'll soon find out that that effort was totally worth it.

Hope I helped,
Alena Sexton

I recently got back in contact with an old best friend of mine. It was great catching up, and now we are both mommies so we get together and have play dates. Don't expect things to be exactly as they were, because time changes people.

Just be friend, but i dont think your relationship will be that close. Maybe it will take some time because since you 2 are separated for long period.

I met my best friend since birth to age 10 5 years later, and we re-hit it off marvelously! It'll be strained and awkward, but once you get comfortable aain things pick right up where they left off. :)
