No. You are confusing two separate corruption eras in the New York City Police Department. An ongoing situation that never seems to be solved. Serpico was instrumental in exposing drug dealing at one level; and was almost killed in the process. The Prince of the City, was the true story of New York Detectives who thought themselves well above the law, and were investigated by the great New York District Atorney Morgenthau. There were over 20 or 30 detectives involved from many different areas of New York; all evil and corrupt to the core.
