No, because a one day boycott won't have any effect. Check out the link in the source to find out why.

(Basically, you have to reduce your fuel consumption every day to have an effect. Not buying on one day just means you'll by more a few days later, cancelling the effect of the boycott.)

If you are interested in lowering the price of gasoline, start carpooling, walking, or using public transportation.

Who are you trying to punish? The companies that refine the gas? If you still use the same amount of gasoline in May, but you move your purchases around, it won't hurt Exxon, Chevron, or any of the others. You're still using the same amount of gasoline.

It might punish some of the local retailers who probably don't have a lot of control over the price of the fuel.

The only way to reduce the price of gasoline is to use less. Decerase the demand. If May 15th were bicycle to work day or ride public transportation day, then it might be a whole lot more effective.

I probably won't buy gas on May 15th, but I don't use that much, so I rarely have to go to the gas station more than once or twice a month.

I probably won't buy any gas on May 15. That doesn't mean I'm boycotting anything. I expect to need gas about the 10th and then again about the 20. I should have a round 1/2 a tank on the 15th. Why would the 15th be any different than any other day?

There is no point to a one day boycott of gasoline. You will either be buying it before or after the 15th, so the oil companies are going to get their money anyway. You will not be sending any significant message to them by a one day boycott. The trick is to get rid of your dependence on oil totally, and that will probably never happen. If everyone rode a bike to work for three months, THAT would be a significant statement...

Even if you boycott on the 15th, your going to be paying out on the 14th or the 15th. If you want to boycott leave your car at home and take public transit or carpool with three other people.

No, i did no longer undergo in strategies. yet I crammed up 2 days in the past besides. certainly nevertheless, i do no longer think of sometime will make an excellent effect in any case. possibly if we did it for a month and human beings walked or carpooled like they did for the time of the Bernard Law Montgomery Bus Boycotts, it would artwork. yet many human beings in recent times are basically no longer prepared to make a sacrifice to incite substitute.

I love that guy..."The corporate Zionist Thugs"...Get a life Bro. As a Corporate Zionist Thug Banker, I gave up my car last August, and Commute everywhere on a Bicycle in a Business Suit !!!
But, I guess it's better for that guy to rant and rave, then go fill up his car, go to a Sheryl Crow concert, where she will talk about saving the environment, and telling us what WE CAN'T do. Then pack up get on her Deisel Powered Tour Bus, followd by 3 Deisel Powered Semi-Trucks carrying her equiptment, belching pollution, putting a hole in the Ozone layer.
But I guess for some folks it is better to hear a Polluting Hypocrit Celebrity railing what YOU need to do, than from a Corporate Zionest Thug Banker who actually just DOES his part.
Typical Celebrity New Cause Police Motto: "Do as I say, not as I do" and "It is better to ***** and blame, than it is to act and fix".
Most of the answers here are right on!!! Get a bike, take a bus or train, do YOUR part.

I read all this complaining about high gas prices and how it is the big bad oil companies who are to blame. Did everyone forget about the state and federal taxes tagged onto every gallon of gas you purchase? It's not big business folks, it's called big government.
