That depends on many factors: the product you're using, your skin chemistry, how active you are, whether or not you use a protective wipe like Skin Prep, what you eat, etc. Trial and error is really the only way to find out. When it's threatening to leak, change it. Soon you will get into a rhythm of sorts and change on a regular basis, but your experience may be very different from anyone elses's when it comes to how long these cycles are.

By the way, different products work differently for different people. Lots of people love Hollister -- I can't get more than one day out of a Hollister appliance. I use Stomahesive wafers (this is for an ileostomy), which last about 3 days. The bags last about 3 weeks. If I use a Durahesive wafer (the supposedly longer lasting product made by the same company) I have to change twice a day. Somebody must have better luck with them, or they wouldn't still be on the market. So Your Mileage May Vary!

I get two weeks with my Hollister illeostomy bags. The flange only lasts four days. Have you visited the Shaz ostomy page? It's fantastic. Good luck to you.
