If you are near a Auto Zone they will hook your car up to a machine for free & tell you what is wrong with it. Most of the time it's just the gas cap.

Sometimes the check engine light will come on if it is time to change the oil. Even after you change it you need to reset it. I have a Toyota Tundra and if the Camry is anything like it in the reset codes, you can hold down the odometer reset. After you have done that continue holding it down and turn the key on. Just turn it to the accessory position. You should wait a few seconds, after the beeping stops from the key being turned. Then turn it off and start the car. If this is your problem, it should be fixed.

you could take the motorcar to stepped ahead automobile or automobile zone for a code examine for free. and as reported earlier they're going to pick to promote you some section in the journey that they discover the mission. once you've a Chrysler you could turn the ignition on off on off on and go away it on and seem on the examine engine mild for flashes. it really is going to blink and after that is performed placed the numbers in pairs. the first code will be 12 and the finest code will be fifty 5 the different numbers will be faults. the intake air sensor the cam position sensor the crank sensor the temp sensor the map or mass air bypass sensor furnish you with a lot of those issues in the journey that they have got not fairly failed thoroughly. also a foul gas pump can attempt this or a plugged gas clear out can attempt this. good luck.

(Check Engine Light)
There are many components that work together in the engine to maintain optimal engine performance and economy.
A service engine soon, or check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is "out of range".
Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem.
Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money.
The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have an engine diagnostic done by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with. Just reading the computer codes may not find the "cause".
That being said, if per-chance you feel the need to reset the light in the hopes that it was a "glitch" of some kind, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to clear the check engine light.

Ignore any any advice to disconnect your battery to reset a check engine light. If you do that, your clock will need to be reset, your radio memory will need to be upset, your computer will revert to factory settings and your car will need to learn to idle again. Sometime you will have to put the code back in your radio, or tow your vehicle in to have the anti-theft reset.
So what do you do? Have your mechanic read the codes, repair any problems, and reset the light. If you don't fix what is wrong, the light will only come back on as it's designed to do.

disconnecting the battery will NOT work on a car 1996 and newer.... only an OBDII code reader can erase the code which is stored as a hard fault in the computer. Goto your local auto store and have them read the code, then replace what needs to be fixed, thats how you fix your car the right way, not trying to disconnect things....

I know this really will not help -- but honestly I actually did this. I placed a piece of decal over the crazy light that annoyed me for years -- I still have this vehicle and it runs better than my new car, go figure. Oh yea, the light is still on!!

you'll probably have to have it reset by a machanic. In my Pontiac Grand Am, though, if I leave the gas cap off when I fill up, the light will come on. When the cap goes back on later, the light will go off.
