I had a job several years ago at an auto shop with someone that was severely epileptic. He was having a bad day with it, so we let him work the parts and tools room getting equipment or whatever we needed so that he didn't have to do anything that would upset his condition.
That was the only room where there was a phone, so we asked him to order some pizza for lunch.. about an hour later I went back there wondering why our pizza didn't show up.. there were pages of the phone book ripped out all over the floor and he was gone.
While he was flipping through the pages, his hands would jump and he would rip out a page.. and the more nervous he got, the more pages he ripped.. so he pretty much shredded the phone book and took off because he was so embarrassed. He was out for a while, but came back to work a week or two later. We all got a good laugh out of it when he told the story from his perspective.
So.. the answer is.. don't give them the responsibility of ordering pizza.
And the moral of the story is.. always have a spare phonebook!
Learning to seperate the person from the affliction helps out a lot. He was a really great guy with a really maddening condition. I haven't seen him in years.
