A lot of cars perform better w/ 40K miles than when they were new! I own a Sebring LXi w/ the Mitsu 3.0 V6 w/ 68,000 miles and wonder how long the Zoom Zoom will last. I've used only Premium Gas and MOBIL fully synthetic oil from mile 1. Since I've driven it from day one I don't notice any loss in power but is it b/c it's so gradual?

If you take care of your car it will last a good 300K..... make sure you change your oil every 3K miles.... and tune-ups and all maintenance regularly..... If you abuse a car and never change the oil it can die before it gets 20K miles....

You shouldn't have used Mobil 1 from mile 1. Cars run better with a few thousand miles on them because the rings and valves seat in and tight bearings loosen up. Synthetic oil works so well the engine never breaks in properly. That's why they say to use conventional oil for a few thousand miles before you switch to synthetic.
With Mobil 1 and proper care, your engine will still run great at 200,000 miles.

It happens when your rings start to break down and you cant contain the pressure to push the cyl anymore.... it is gradual, but if well kept will not happen for a LONG time, I have an 89 acura, 340k mi. The compression is down in 1 cyl only, the rest are within range...
