Ok, my friend told me that when every girl turns 18, she has to go to the gyn for a checkup,, and that they are going to look down there and scrape the walls of your v to check if u have cancer..

is this true?
does EVERY girl have to do it?
if so, what happens if you dont want to?
is it a requirement or something?

also, can they put you to sleep and do it if you are REALLY uncomfortable w/ people looking at your vagina?? cuz for me, i dont even let my bf or NE one,

does it hurt more for virgins to get one since their vagina is not open enough? or if your hymen is not broken yet?

thank u

It is not a requirement BUT it is a good thing to do in order to make sure your reproductive organs are in good working order.

Yes they do scrape the inside of your uterus, it feels uncomfortable and is only awkward for a few minutes.

The doctor has seen plenty of vaginas.

No its not a requirement. Doctors suggest girls start having a pap smear to check for problems. I think most girls start going once they start having sex. Getting a pap smear doesn't really hurt its just uncomfortable but it doesn't take very long, usually about 5 minutes or so. You don't have to go to a OBGYN, you can usually go to your family doctor. Call your doctor and ask when they suggest you start getting a pap smear. You might feel more comfortable if you found a women doctor.

well it's not mandatory, the ppl don't make you do it, but you should. if you really want to you can just never ever go, but that's bad. the gyno can help see problems before they get serious, like cervical cancer for instance, so it's a really good thing to go
