I left open batteries on my office desk and they leaked stripping the cherry color paint and leaving whitish scrath marks on my beautiful all-wood table. How can I fix the problem and make the scratches less visable?

Try toluene, a chemical you dont often hear about because it is so toxic--but with care you can use it and it should take out the stain. It is used in museum work with old varnished woods, as its evaporation point is so high that the liquid does not have time to damage the varnish or the wood grain itself. Hope that works. Should be able to find it at a hardware store.

They make color sticks that are kinda like crayons. Find one the closest to your finish and rub on the scratches and wipe off the excess.............Good Luck
