I've been using CRT monitors since forever, but lately i've been thinking about replacing it with a lcd because it's a space saver and it doesn't heat up as much.
I wanna know what would i be giving up when switching to LCD from CRT? and what should i be aware of when i go out to buy it?
by the way, i use the computer for long hours straight if that counts.

The new generation LCD's are just as good if not better than CRT's. If you spend long hours than a 19" screen is minimum, I would go for 20 - 22". Get a minimum refresh rate of 8ms.
Widescreen is an option - go down to your local store and check them out.
Check the dead pixel warranty in the unlikely event that you have a problem and stick to good brands.

If i were you, I'd stick to 19" and stick to the good brands. Goto http://www.newegg.com and see what the highest rated LCD's are.
