It's an alternator,,,there is no "positive or negative".
It puts out A/C current,,not DC.
If you mean the Green and White wires are coming From the alternator coils on the engine,,,
they will have to go to an electronic device called "Rectifier",,,which changes the AC current to DC current.
After the Rectifier,,,Then you have DC Current with Positive & Negative polarity.
Most Rectifiers have a Single Wire OUT,,,as Positive(Usually Red).
And the Rectifier usually Grounds to the Frame,,,making the bike's frame//or,engine Case "Negative".
IF there's a wire,,it's usually Black.
Here's another twist.
SOME CDI/Electronic Ignitions on 80cc class motors have NO " Lighting Coil.
The entire unit is strictly for Ignition,,,and the wires from the "generator" go to a CDI "Black Box"
The white and green would connect to CDI box,,,
and the Black wire is the TRIGGER & connects to CDI also.
A 4th wire would Leave the CDI Box,,and go to Spark Plug coil.
.................................
KILL SWITCH,,,
almost all 80cc things run on a Magneto for ignition,,,whether triggered by a CDI or Contact Breaker Points.
The Secondary Coil--the one with the Spark Plug wire on Magnetos has One Small primary wire going to it.
It's usually Black,,or black with a stripe of some color.
"Kill Switch" is accomplished by simply Grounding that wire.
That Shorts the magneto's Output directly to Ground,,and keeps it from going to SparkPlug Coil.
Which keeps plug from Firing.
...........................
IF it's a CDI magneto,,,,
There's usually 2 or 3 wires going TO the CDI "Box",,,and 1 wire going To Spark Plug Coil.
ONE wire is "TRIGGER",,from the CDI pulse trigger
The Other wires are 'Charge" wires to power the CDI Box.
Colors?? who knows....most every one is different.
You SHOULD be able to look at the Magneto and see an odd lil' device that Does NOT look like a Coil.
That'll be The TRIGGER/Pulse coil,,,,
You should be able to see what color wire is attached to that.
THAT wire is grounded to create "Kill Switch".
In either type of magneto,,,
whether Contact Breaker Points or CDI ,,,
the "trigger" is Grounded to Kill the ignition spark.
The Trigger is either the Points or the Pulse Coil.
On a CDI You "can" kill it by shorting the wire going to the Spark Plug Coil.
But Generally you DONT want to because it's relatively Hi Voltage and BAD to ground the OUTPUT from the CDI box.
So You ground it BEFORE the BOX to kill it.
.............................................................................
From the "Generator"...
VERY,VERY GENERALLY SPEAKING
Raw AC wires are USUALLY,,,
White,Yellow,Green,Blue
Those colors may also POWER the CDI.
IGNITION wires are AC also,,,but very low voltage.
USUALLY Red or Black are TRIGGER wires.
USUALLY,,white, yellow,or Green are CDI Power Wires
.........................................................................................
A Points Magneto has only One Wire,,,straight from Points to Spark Plug Coil.
Any other wires are for LIGHTING.
A CDI Magneto,,,has 2 or 3 going INTO the "Black Box"....and ONE coming out to spark coil.
I suspect the "odd shaped metal just above the spinner" with the Black wire is CDI Trigger,,,,,and thus the one to Ground to kill the ignition.
